"Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse" full-length movie trailer, featuring Afro Latino teenager Miles Morales as a newbie Spider-Man. (Teaser trailer previously.)
While the full movie plot remains unknown, the trailer contains story elements from the 2012 comic miniseries Spider-Men, in which Marvel's "main" adult Spider-Man / Peter Parker first crossed over into Miles's "Ultimate" Marvel universe, and from the 2014 comic event Spider-Verse (previously), a spider-multiverse crossover of every Spidey ever.

Watched this earlier this morning. Both the visual style and the tone of this are so great. I'm looking forward to it.
Here are a couple frames someone posted on Twitter. It looks good and fun. We need more good and fun right now, honestly.

I can't get over how much I love Jake Johnson bringing a strong New-Girl's-Nick-Miller vibe to Peter Parker.
This looks amazing, and with a screenplay from Phil Lord, I am all in.

I will be grateful forever if this cartoon can take post-Brand New Day careless weirdo manchild Peter Parker and make me actually LIKE him. I'm getting an offbeat Spider-Man and the X-Men series vibe.
It's too bad he couldn't show up in the "real" MCU
It's never too late for Sony to rope this movie into Spidey: Homecoming canon via dimension-hopping / permanently kill off Tom Holland Spidey a la Ultimate Spider-Man for emotional torque!

Hell, that trailer alone was better than almost all of the "real" MCU movies I've seen, so maybe this should be the start of the realer MCU instead. (Just slide Black Panther over to this one as well and they'd be all set.)

He hasn't shown up yet but they've set the stage for it: Donald Glover played Aaron Davis, Miles's uncle, in Spider-Man: Homecoming (there's a line about him having a nephew in the neighborhood as an oblique nod), who is also The Prowler.

Honestly, on further reflection, I would really like it if they did go with a second universe that was given over to new creators who were allowed to go wild with it, straying even more from the comics and seeing what they could come up with.
Give it the characters with less of a long standing legacy, She-Hulk, Ms. Marvel, The Great Lakes Avengers, and whoever else the creators might want as main figures, allow alternative versions of the some of the others if desired, and most importantly find people outside the mainstream of comicdom i.e. less of the usual white guys, and let them develop new concepts for a genre that still desperately needs that kind of invigoration. Let them completely what Marvel and DC superheroes were and see what they might become instead.
For me, the Black Panther really pushed in that direction, but was still held back a bit from what it could be due to the limitations of the genre and demands of the current Marvel/Disney movie universe. I'd like to see those restraints stretched closer to the point of breaking, where the only limit is in maintaining a positive connection to the main characters, ultimately, as heroes, since that seems a non-negotiable issue for continuing the genre.

For the longest time, DC Animated has really been kicking Marvel's ass.
You know, the reverse of the live action universe battle.
But this - THIS - man, this really moves Marvel up along the inside rail, making this a real horse race.

oh my GOD I LOVE THIS ANIMATION STYLE. And I'm usually meh at best on most non-Pixar CG animation. But this has such a weight and heft to it, and the way the characters move almost reminds me of Laika's stop-motion work. I LOVE IT SO MUCH.

Before this discussion gets along please note despite the title the preferred nomenclature for more than one Spider-Man is “Spiders-Man”
Does that mean more than one Spider-Man fan would be Spiders-fan?

Tumblr post with a close-up on little animation details. Hand-drawn eyebrow lines! Halftone shading!
More fun details: Spider-Gwen being extra by landing en pointe. I am super-into the Spider-DILF of older Peter Parker with gray streaks in his hair. More spider-logos hinting at alternate Spideys.
I really hope we see Spider-Man 2099/Miguel O'Hara. And Scarlet Spider(s). And Silk/Cindy Moon. And Anya Corazon. And Spider-UK. And every single one of my precious infant spider-children.

I'm old but I basically squee'd like a nine-year old when the trailer revealed it was Morales. That's the sort of thing I'd love to see happen in the "real" MCU, though of course Holland has been great and deserves a half-dozen more films first.
Then give me Miguel O'Hara in 2099, whether animated or not, and I'll be set.

This looks so incredibly good, I can't believe it. The way the animation style pays homage to its comic roots while clearly going its own road is just fantastically beautiful. And then the tone of story and characters! If the movie is half is good as this trailer hints at, then the movie ill be a ridiculous success!

This looks stupid good. I actually gasped at the narration boxes, and I think I saw a literal "BLAM!!!" or similar in one of the explosions. Plus, I might have found a superhero I can cosplay convincingly in grey-haired, five-o-clock-shadowed, dadbod Peter Parker.

I love everything about this (HIS DAD!), but couldn't place the Peter Parker voice until the end - Nick Miller. And the meta of Nick Miller being bitten by a spider and still somehow being Nick Miller-esque was just perfect.
