Under a Porcelain Sun [YouTube] [Video Game Trailer] is a first-person adventure set in a surrealist colonial India. It’s about two thieves searching for the mythical city Kayamgadh. Along the way, they’ll encounter castles of glue, wax people, and other strangeness. It comes from a studio in India called Oleomingus and will be out this summer. [via: Kotaku]
PC only for now but it looks like a really interesting walking simulator.

I think that means its more about finding clues in the world via books/text. It has a walking simulator feel to it where you solve puzzles and read things.

The artistic style looks really cool! I am interested in the story concept.
This is one of those trailers where I have difficulty getting a sense of the gameplay. So I will stay tuned to find that out.

How does this differ from a Museum of Dubious Splendors? It seems to share a lot of its art and environments from that previous title. Are the two games set in the same world?

Nossidge, I'm not too sure how they're connected. They do have separate steam store pages, hmm.

Venturebeat had this to say in December:
For the last three years, Indian indie studio Studio Oleomingus has been crafting its first game, a post-modern fairy tale called Somewhere. It’s gifted the internet with occasional peeks into its magic realist world of stories within stories, notably with the interactive parable Timruk and the delightfully weird conversation-generator Menagerie. This weekend, it plans on releasing a new short PC demo called A Museum of Dubious Splendors, which will be available on its Itch.io page. Next year, it’s also releasing a two-hour game called Under a Porcelain Sun.

This is my first comment about games on MeFi. It does look interesting. The 11th guest was an old favorite and I haven't any interest in fast action games. I cannot process that fast.
One thing, did I see blatant toothpaste product placement or is that just me?

I can't read it to be able to tell if it's a fictional brand or not, but yeah there's toothpaste (that's from Museum of Dubious Splendors but given the apparent asset reuse I would expect it to be the same)

The toothpaste is Colgate with the name Devanagari (the script used for Hindi)—so I'm going to assume it is some kind of comment. Needless to say, it's a very common toothpaste and label, although I'm not sure whether I've seen it written in Devanagari and can't find any photos.
