Man with world's longest fingernails finally cuts them off. (video)

Shridhar Chillal had not cut the fingernails on his left hand since 1952. They were removed in a nail-cutting ceremony at the Ripley's Believe it or Not! Museum in NYC.

I thought fingernails had a natural limit after which they'd stop growing? I know hair does, and nails are made of the same thing. Is that not true, or is he just a special snowflake, just like some people can grow ankle-length hair?
