MTV Movie Awards Winners are Already Posted Arrr matey, spoilage ahead!
Why film an award show days ahead of the TV broadcast, and then announce the winners after the taping? Is it a lack of coordination between the right hand and the left? Or does the national press putting the news on the winners out ahead of time turn the whole thing into a non-event, and so who cares? I wonder if the advertizers will be wanting their money back.
Not that I'd watch the show anyway.

Was it on Slashdot? I got it from a friend (that's the best way to catch something, don't you think?)

I watched it last night.. and heard Osbourne's song on the radio last weekend and thought it was pretty good.
the whole fun of it is that it is a t-shirt and jeans awards show rather than a stuffy tux and gown ball, I find.

Well, they were filmed last week. The results were online in several places then. And, while i wouldn't admit to it if pressed, but Extra or ET or whatever ran a piece mentioning several of the winners.

The MTV movie awards are always taped earlier in the week. Because there are so many people involved, they really can't keep the results secret. For the past few years you've been able to find the winners on their site. They don't care. It just adds to the hype. What the hell is an MTV movie award worth anyway?
MTV likes to tape the awards to edit them down to a managable time, cut out the profanity and blur out t-shirt logos. Plus, they don't really want to show awards shows, they need to keep it short and contained so they can get right back to the.... um.... music.

...to MTV even? Obviously, the meaning of the "M" in MTV was changed long ago from "Music" to "Miscellaneous"

So the time they don't spend playing videos they spend rewarding movies?

I get the impression that they don't take the awards too seriously.

Actually, I always thought the whole point of the MTV Movie Awards was that no one did take them seriously. At least, that's why they were fun, originally. Today, some people do seem to take them seriously, which is a drag -- but what can you do?
I only saw the beginning of the show last night, but the opening was fun to watch, I thought. Jack Black is a dang brilliant entertainer.
