I don't think I ever learned past the first verse, but it's really wedged in there!

Weird! I don't think I've thought about this song since elementary school, but I found myself humming it just yesterday. It's nice to read about its origins after all this time.

Oh this song... We sang it for the school when I was in grade 4 or 5. I can't think of too many French Halloween songs other than this one. Which is interesting because Halloween is so much fun to say in French.

I learned this song in kindergarten (apparently, just a few years after it came out!), and now my kids are singing it with their class. We were just singing it together yesterday, mumbling half-remembered verses, getting emphatic at the chorus, and shouting out "HEY!" It makes me feel vraiment Canadienne and I love that it's become such a classic.

I'm from Quebec (educated in French) and never heard of this song before.

I had forgotten that I ever knew this song until I saw this post and it all came back in a rush!

Never heard this before and it is my new favorite Halloween song. Adorable!

Both my kids are in French immersion. They sang this song the whole time they were trick or treating tonight.

Oh, I love this song! I first heard it in middle and high school French classes. I played it recently for my English-only children and translated as it went along and they loved it enough to ask for it a few times since. I'll have to pick up a copy of Maxwell's album to leave on in the car.
