The Morrissey spoof is perfect. The line about KFC could be seen as a flaw, but somehow it makes the song even funnier.

I'm just impressed he rhymed "Italiano" and "piano".

If you're a fan of these, you should also check out Demi's hilarious podcast Punch Up the Jam:

"Miel Bredouw and Demi Adejuyigbe are comedians, writers, and best friends, with absolutely no qualifications to “fix” popular songs— but that won’t stop them from trying. PUNCH UP THE JAM is a show cataloguing their descent into madness as they review, rewrite, and remix all the hits you love to hate, or just love (until they ruin it for you.)"

I haven't seen the film but my understanding is that he does feed him Kentucky Fried Chicken. No?

he does feed him Kentucky Fried Chicken. No?

Yes, he does, and it is an unintentionally uncomfortable scene (among many).

I was pretty sure I'd spotted an anachronism there too, but I'm not sure. It seemed like he was drinking soda from a modern soda cup with a modern plastic top, but maybe those go bach further than I know. Yeah, unimportant, but it took me out of the movie for a bit. (Which may have been a blessing?)

The rhyme doesn't quite work. I don't care, but I think that's what was driving that comment.

Demi is one of the funniest people who exists. He's doing next level stuff, and his Ready Player One theme has me laughing out loud every time I hear it.

I saw it as a flaw because it was far too neutral a KFC namedrop for a Morrissey song. If he mentioned KFC it would be in the context of slaughtering Col. Sanders.

Demi is so quick witted and I adore him and Miel’s energy on Punch Up the Jam. It’s a favorite podcast for me. I routinely sing lines from their punchups.

I adore Demi Adejuyigbe. (Africa is this week's song on punch up the jam. It's been a super solid last few weeks.)

(Africa is this week's song on punch up the jam. It's been a super solid last few weeks.)

After hearing this podcast referenced again and again, I gave it a shot via the "Africa" episode. I was out getting some things at the grocery store a little while ago while listening to it, and snorted out loud a bunch of times - in the produce section, and then again in the checkout line - it was absolutely brilliant. I lost it when they walked in Seamus Heaney as part of their analysis.

It's now in my subscription list.

@mandolin conspiracy, most of the time it is Demi or Miel doing the punch up.

If you were a fan of the folks who did the punch up for Africa they also have a pretty solid musical improv podcast called Off Book. (I'm sure this was mentioned in the podcast but I happen to also really enjoy Jess and Zach on Off Book.)
