The Guardian asked readers

The Guardian asked readers to send weblog recommendations, and they did, and the Guardian post a whole big bunch of them. Look at the page soon; sometimes these Guardian links change addresses...
Referring to This Modern World as intelligent is a bit spurious, but that's the Guardian for you.

I don't think it's a bad list at all and was surprised to see so many of my blog bookmarks reflected in it. One thing I noticed was the refreshing lack of 'warblogs', then again considering the regard the more popular ones have for the Guardian, I guess it's not all that surprising.

The thing I don't like about categorizing blogs is that there are lots of them out there (including mine) that don't fit neatly into any one category. I'm sure that's the reason they didn't list mine, they just couldn't fit it into a category. (My delusions keep me warm at night)

Interesting that they've left this an open call for submissions. 'Twould be nice to see a final count when they put up their "more comprehensive list."
(Yes, I did submit my blog -- didn't you?)

Even though I sent the thing in myself and suspect that anyone who did so made the list, I am in a state of high chuffedness to be there. I hope they don't get inundated now and chuck me off.

Yup, I saw it, and thought, "that's the Blues fan from Sportsfilter", so I had a look. Nice design.

Me too! Crazy Blues fans. Definitely a well done site, though.

How wonderfully open-minded of you, cedar. Why, the first thing I thought of when I saw this list was "I hope they didn't list anyone I disagree with."

We've had more than enough Old Media wanking off of the warbloggers, dhartung. Last thing we need is more.

Yep, it sure would be tragic if the Guardian's readers were to discover there were weblogs devoted to topics other than reflexive support for American foreign policy.
