Wow, this sucks.

Tetris relies on being able to rotate a piece as it falls. If you can't do that, it doesn't work.

There is a long history of re-implementations of Tetris that make it intensely frustrating, leaning on the iconography of Tetris and the expected satisfaction of slotting a piece neatly into place and clearing lines by making it almost impossible to do so. (Two memorable examples are the one that makes every piece jelly, and the one that zooms the playing field out after every line.)

The only difference between them and this is that once you get the joke, this still has some interest as a game.

I took one look at that thing and I backed away hastily. Some mysteries are best left unsolved.

Yup, definitely clicked through and said NOPE NOPE NO WAY and slammed that back button. There are things I don't need in my life and this evil Tetris is among them.

Yes! I got a 3.

You can rotate, but no sliding into position at the last moment like in regular tetris. Instead you have as long as you like to decide the position and rotation before committing the piece. More puzzle solving, less hand-eye coordination, but still too hard.

Ooh, new score of 6, including at least one line in all 4 boards. I'm quitting while I'm ahead.

I think it speaks to Tetris' status as an enduring masterpiece that even subtle variations to the format only seem to diminish it.

I think this one is better than tetrhissss since it didn't appear immediately impossible.
That allows for hope which in turn allows the crushing of hope.
Clearly superior.
