Because Names Continue To Be Amazing

Without sports to rely on, we turn our lonely eyes to other competitions - and of those ongoing, none is more storied than the Name Of The Year Tournament, dedicated to finding the best names. Though evicted from its traditional home, the tournament has found new homes, and a strong bracket has been drawn up.

Last year saw a surprise win by Pope Thrower, but this year's field is strong:
The No. 1 seeds are the stuff of legend. In the Bulltron Regional, Kansas carjacker Mathdaniel Squirrel. In the Dragonwagon, felonious Burlington mayoral hopeful Infinite Culcleasure. In the Sithole, Leeds Green Party candidate Bluebell Eikonoklastes. And, in the Chrotchtangle, Brooklyn children’s librarian Beanbag Amerika.

This post was deleted for the following reason: Heya, sorry, we've talked about how making fun of people's names can be a racist microaggression, so it's better in general to avoid anything that gets into that area. -- LobsterMitten
Incredible bracket, the best in years. Vanilla Beane and Eileen Strong O’Boy could have been top seeds but they’re stuck battling in the first round.
My Cinderella pick is 15th seed Steve Cakebread.
Steve. Cakebread.

Dr. Reason Machete has to have the most underheavings and innuendo of them all. The pidgen overtones, and the jungle medical caseload implications...

As with the NCAA March Madness brackets, look to the 5-12 seed matchups for upsets:
BULLTRON Regional - (5) Ikea Perrier vs (12) Gravity Goldberg
SITHOLE Regional - (5) Dr. Floun'say Caver vs (12) Zebulon Vermillion
DRAGONWAGON Regional - (5) Dr. Welcome Bender vs (12) Sovereign Valentine
CROTCHTANGLE Regional - (5) Jimbertson Vapor vs (12) Zorro Maplestone
An All-Doctor Final Four would be amazing:
Dr. Reason Machete
Dr. Floun'say Caver
Dr. Welcome Bender
Dr. Delight Champagne
Also lots of these could easily slide into Key & Peele's East-West College Bowl, from Green Wix Unthank to Courvoisier Dingle.

When I posted the NOTY brackets here last year, the post got deleted because some users flagged it as being racist. Has that been worked out in this year's competition?

I throw my support behind humble 14 seed Waffles Natusch for being the first one that made me laugh. I think Waffles beats Dhanmite Slappey in a round 1 upset and breezes past Trivodka Lundy in round 2. Maybe--a whisper of a chance--Waffles takes down Dr. Reason Machete in the 16. And I'm calling it right now. Waffles Natusch takes down Mathdaniel Squirrel to advance to the Final Four. Cinderella story.

I'm pulling for Destiny Guns as my dark horse pick at a #13 seed. I always kinda hate it when the #1 seeds sail through.
