Dear Ireland

What do we want to be to one another? What do we want our society to look like? What are we not paying enough attention to? Where do we want to go next? What should Ireland write on a postcard to itself?

A national conversation led by Ireland’s artists 50 writers, 50 actors, livestreaming 50 pieces over 4 evenings. Each writer nominated one actor to perform their piece, and the actors are self-taping their performances from social isolation.

These are great pieces of drama, beautifully performed. Not at all a dry political debate, though you might pick up that impression from the description. Check out the YouTube channel.

I watched the first set live and they were a big emotional gut punch. Absolutely spellbinding, but, as I should have expected from Irish theatre, they do not shy away from dark themes.
