We all know that our pets love us. They snuggle up to us when we’re cold. They cheer us up when we’re feeling down. And the looks that they sometimes give us can make our hearts melt—sometimes it seems like they’re looking straight into our souls. (SLBuzzFeed, h/t Miss Cellania)

My cat gives me this face but she does it while also sinking her claws into my flesh really slowly like she is carefully testing my adoration-versus-pain response threshold.

my boyfriend used to have a cat that would just sit and gaze at him with the look of purest love. I miss his cats, they were lovely

Right on. Our brilliant dog (my profile pic) and two amazing Highland Lynx cats have these heart melting expressions of innocence and loving trust nailed. One never feels worthy. We should look at them this way.

Where is this magical land where geezers have their cats on public transport? I am nearly a geezer myself and my cat Fred is the best and I want to live there.

We should look at them this way.
I bet we do, it's just that it's hard for our pets to take pictures of us (GUIs confuse them).

My cat is possibly feeling affection sometimes when she's staring at me, but more often she's trying—like, really concentrating—to telepathically order me to feed her.1
When she's purring and buried her face in my armpit while I scratch her head, that's when I'm pretty sure she's loving me.2
