Using Century-Old Seaweed to Solve a Marine Mystery

Researchers from the Monterey Bay Aquarium, Stanford’s Hopkins Marine Station, the University of Hawai'i, and Duke University, have examined a collection of dried, pressed seaweeds dating back over 140 years to learn what ocean conditions in the bay were like in the early 19th century. Actual paper on Pubmed.
The Monterey Bay Aquarium does a lot of great work. When I lived there I was a member, and if I thought I had a chance of being in California anytime soon I'd re-join. Also, their social feeds are EXACTLY what you need in these tough times.
Side note: Hopkins Marine Station and the Monterey Bay Aquarium are pretty tightly linked. They're literally next door to each other, I think.
