In reality I have no investment in this at all. But I feel weirdly betrayed that this is a fancy star-filled cast. I'd somehow pictured it being this stitched-together and enhanded/added to collection of the original pieces from TikTok.

The coverage I've found has been pretty skimpy on details like, are the people who wrote the songs getting anything out of this? The original videos apparently included pleas like "please hire me"—it's nice that least some people are "given writing credit," but how does that help them? Also, what about the people who designed costumes, sets, choreography—is all that getting thrown out the window?

It's nonunion theatre. Assume nobody is being paid.

From the FAQ:

Who is benefitting from this event?
The proceeds of this event will benefit The Actors Fund, giving creators the opportunity to support other creators in this unprecedented and devastating time. Since the pandemic, The Actors Fund has given over $17 million in emergency relief to arts workers across the country.

Are you compensating TikTok creators?
Yes! We have partnered with many of the original creators to create Ratatouille: The TikTok Musical, and these creators are being credited and compensated. We're excited to work with this talented, diverse team to make the best show possible. They're the Remys, making it all happen. We're just a bunch of Linguinis.

Per this Buzzfeed article, the composers and such did in fact get paid and retained their rights.

I haven’t watched the musical myself or even seen the film, but I’m delighted by this story, because I love all these creatives coming together as a huge force to just... make up a musical because they can. That it is now a semi-filmed kind of show thing that made a lot of money for the Actor’s Fun is lagniappe, that it exists at all is the real charming and creatively inspiring story.

I watched it last night. There were Technical Difficulties for a bit, but they filmed it ahead of time, so all was well and they just started the stream over. It was a fun time!
