The Great Moose Migration
April 28, 2021 11:53 AM   Subscribe

A live slow tv nature stream from the depths of the wilderness in northern Sweden. A 24/7 marathon live stream that runs from 18/4 - 9/5 [4/18 - 5/9]. Using 30 remote controlled cameras and nightvision we follow the Swedish moose as they try to cross the great Ångermanälven river.

So far, six moose have crossed the river.

Translated from Swedish:
We at SVT got an idea a while ago to test how an AI (Artificial Intelligence) can detect that it is a moose in a picture and thus send a notice about it to Facebook. The computer program learns what a moose looks like. The administrator thought it was an exciting idea and has agreed to let us test it on this facebook group, which means that when AI discovers that it is a moose in the picture, there will be a notice with reference to SVT… In order not to have too many notices, we have said that there must be a maximum of one notice once an hour.
Sometimes it can be a little wrong. The reindeer has proven to be difficult to distinguish from a moose at certain angles. But they are working too hard to make the adjustments."

OMG, thank you so much for posting this.

I loved the NRK's broadcast of the reindeer migration in 2017 (Previously) and have been waiting for similar events ever since. Back then, this would be at least in a tab, if not full-screen, all the time, I would fall asleep or take a nap have the nature sounds (and Sami music) running in the background. It was such a nice event and so I am very excited about this one!

Frankly even just gazing at nighttime video of various peaceful locations is perfect. I would love to see a moose, but this already just The Best.

Altogether elsewhere, vast
Herds of reindeer move across
Miles and miles of golden moss,
Silently and very fast.

Which camera shows the moose mixing concrete and filling out tax forms before biting my sister?
