This film won the Oscar for Best Foreign Picture over Godard's "Pierrot le Fou", De Sica's "Marriage Italian Style", and Kobayashi's "Kwaidan". I haven't seen it so really I can't make a judgement, but this film I've never heard of somehow won an Oscar instead of these great films. I'll definitely give it a shot.

This is an incredible film about the humanity and inhumanity of ordinary people during the Holocaust, in a country that had officially allied itself with Germany and where many supported the deportation of Jews. Jozef Króner (the lead actor in Obchod na Korze) was a national treasure.
