After this happened I started working the phones at a big park that a lot of businesses tack onto their names (think Pancake Park Hotel and Dunkin’ Donuts - Pancake Park, etc.) And I could not believe how many times PER DAY someone googled wrong, dialed our number, listed to me say “Pancake Park Corporation,” and then immediately launched into a story about how they need to book a table for two or change their room reservation or, for one memorable week when google was REALLY screwing up, when they could come drop off their sperm sample. When I remembered this story, I appreciated it in a whole new way… people really just Do Not Pay Attention.

I've been wondering if they did the mechanizing themselves ( I bought the Four Seasons Total Landscaping tote bag for myself, and a Four Seasons Total Landscaping high-vis shirt for my husband, who works in construction), or if someone else came in to help them capitalize on the publicity. The merch is really good and funny, even RJ's Trump voting relatives had a laugh when they saw it. I don't think most small businesses would have handled the attention as well as these guys did, I'll probably watch the documentary.

people really just Do Not Pay Attention
In general that's certainly true, and in general it doesn't matter much. But one might expect that, by the time your job is "booking press avails for the most powerful single individual the planet," you have demonstrated that you're a person who DOES, in fact, pay attention.
One defining characteristic of the former guy's White House appears to have been that working there day in and day out was so awful that many people simply couldn't take it. By the end there had been so much turnover that many of the people there -- some in very important jobs -- simply were not very good at those jobs. The people who WERE good at those jobs had either quit long ago, or had refused to take the jobs in the first place, not for ideological reasons but simply because the boss was an asshole and the work environment was horrible and draining.
It can be persuasively argued that that's why we still have a functioning democracy. We probably won't be as lucky next time.

Oh, nice timing: they're releasing it on the anniversary!
(I had it on my calendar, so I'd remember to wear the shirt.)

Well, it's not like he tucks in his shirt anywhere, let alone drops off a sperm sample.

The Christmas cards I sent out last year were all from their store, and they said: Four SEASONS Total Landscaping GREETINGS. General consensus was that I won at Christmas cards last year.

And the chuckles are hardy until your glass is dry and you consider to date, no one - NOT ONE PERSON - has paid any substantive consequences.
And you literally think, wake me when anyone is held to account for the most naked, organized, aggressive and violent effort to overthrow the American government since, well, at least 2000.
