The Saudis wanna sue.

The Saudis wanna sue. A group of Saudis plan to sue the U.S. government and media organizations for the alleged psychological and financial damage they suffered in the aftermath of Sept. 11, their lawyer said Wednesday.
So pathetic it's....

I say, the Saudis had their century to do something with that place. They've done nothing useful with it, or themselves, and have funded horrors with OUR money. Time to take over....

Did you read the article, Grod?
It seems like a perfectly valid suit. But I'd give it a snowballs chance in hell; this will be stomped on for intelligence and security reasons just like the 100 trillion suit will be -- just give it time.

Well well well, isn't this rich?
The country which pioneered excessive legal challenges gets sued in response. In a sick way, I find this case to be mildly amusing.
Bring it on-we've got thousands of trial attorneys filing ridiculous claims right now. Maybe we can put their energies to task defending the United States against this one.

tgrundke: Are you kidding? Our beloved trial lawyers will be climbing over each other to represent the plaintiffs. Seeing as how tort lawyers are usually paid on a contingency basis - typically 33-40% of the final judgment - these guys are seeing some big dollar signs and will likely be in danger of slipping on their own drool.

No love lost here, but if their US holdings make it possible for them to be sued in US courts, doesn't that also give them the right to (counter) sue in those same courts?
PP: Take over? Can I nominate you for territorial governer? Maybe we wouldn't be bankrolling their horrors if we didn't buy their oil. If we can import their oil, why can't we export our democracy? It sounds good where Iraq is concerned, but not here?

I would have to agree with Ptrin... these suits are probably gonna be conveniently dropped. Otherwise, if they're not going to make a farce of the the american judicial system, some pretty interesting evidence should turn up...

I think a war fought with torts and suits is infinitely superior to one fought with bullets and bombs.

Ha ha!... I'm getting a crazy image in my head of war propaganda posters featuring soldiers wearing freakin' Armanis, wielding briefcases loaded with paperwork. Lawyers: the soldiers of tomorrow!
