Brett Goldstein is so great. Every couple of days I laugh just remembering the bit in the Christmas episode where he tells his niece and Kheely, "We're going out into my stupid posh neighborhood to knock on doors, and if we don't find a dentist in the first ten doors, I'll give you both a thousand pounds."
I don't even know WHY I find that so funny.

I love so much about him, the more I see of him, but his love of the Muppets may be the thing I love the most.
This quote from an interview with him just sums life up so well I think I need to hang it on the wall:
The secret of the Muppets is they're not very good at what they do.
Kermit is not a great host, Fozzie is not a good comedian, Miss Piggy is not a great singer. None of them are actually good at it, but they fucking love it. And they're like a family, and they like putting on the show, and they have joy. And because they have joy, it doesn't matter that they're not good at it. And that's like what we should all be. Muppets.

Delightful! I am many years removed from Sesame Street (Original Cast Album #1 represent!) but I am tickled that there is a recycling bin next to Oscar's trash can.
I am so happy that Ted Lasso introduced me to Brett Goldstein.

I'm 51 and haven't seen Sesame Street in many years. I'm kinda surprised that Oscar the Grouch still lives in one of those stamped-metal cans. I remember them from my youth, but I don't think I've even seen one in 30+ years. I guess it's fan service for the Olds.

Donno what video you saw, but the one in FP I saw showed Oscar in a blue plastic recycling bin.

I use one of the stamped metal trash cans to hold horse feed. Meeses can chew through plastic but cheap galvanized metal is still proof against meeses. I put it up on concrete blocks to prevent rust from ground moisture.

We use stamped metal trash cans to hold our trash because rats chew through every kind of plastic. Oscar has the right idea.

For those who wondered, I looked it up. "And while Oscar the Grouch still makes a trash can his home, he now pops up through an underground tunnel...connecting recycling and compost bins." Evidently he let Brett have the best room. (That link goes to an interesting-looking recycling company page.)

IIRC, the trashcan is merely a portal to a vast underground lair that at one point included a swimming pool. Oscar probably has trashcans all over the nabe.

This was great, thanks!
All this talk of Oscar's trash can makes me consider it may work similarly to The Doctor's T.A.R.D.I.S. I think Jodie Whittaker or David Tennant would be great in an Oscar/Who crossover.
