Experiences. Using VideoGrep, Sam Lavigne created a supercut of Mark Zuckerberg selling us the Metaverse. Warning: Zuckerberg.

The author is associated with the School for Poetic Computation, which frankly, sounds like the coolest thing ever.

Experiences, experiences, experiences, experiences... Meh.
Commerce. Commerce. Commerce. Commerce. Commerce. Ah, there it is.

I would like to know why his bike seat is at such an extreme angle. What's that experience like?

Virtually unbearable.

20 seconds in and I've already felt semantic satiation.

Ted Lasso: No, my plan is for my plan to work. But you know what they say about the best-laid plans, right? Hm. Said "plan" too many times. Word's lost all its meaning now. Plan, plan, plan...

semantic satiation you say?

This is fun. I love pretty much everything Lavigne does. (I'm pretty sure I'd like all of it even if we weren't old friends who haven't actually seen each other in years. But, I probably wouldn't know about most of it otherwise. I entirely missed this particular one.) All the silence in Total Recall and the old CSPAN videogreps also make me giggle, if they're a little more choppy. (I know they're also in one of the post links, but a few clicks down.)

Pinboard, though, is something I'd never heard about. Neat!

I support this initiative to turn Mark Zuckerberg into the next Steve Ballmer. Developers, developers, developers, developers...

Love this, no disrespect to the O.P. but after 38 seconds, it was as if I were being pelted with celery.

I haven't actually watched the video (and probaby won't), but I have to enthuse wildly about that page on VideoGrep.

This guy wrote a tool to make supercuts automatically? And wrote a really great tutorial on how to use it, and what options it has, and why you'd want to use them, all with a nifty equally helpful and clear tutorial on yt-dlp (the fantastic command line video download tool) ensconced in the middle? What a great thing to do.

VideoGrep sounds like an AMAZING tool, and the tutorial is so well written - and it's so wonderful to know that Lavigne created this tool and wants to share it with the world.

I am really glad to know about this. Thank you so much for posting it, mecran01!

Me: Watch it at 2x speed, on the largest screen you have access to. That's a great idea.

Also me: Why did you do that?

My question is…. Is seeing Zuckerberg in person as much an uncanny valley thing as seeing him in videos? He always comes across as someone’s prototype human for what appears to be a very boring video game.

The marketing person who queued him to say experiences that many times should also be fired into the sun.

If only the news anchors spooked by Ananova could've seen Zuckerberg coming.

It is both disappointing and telling how blandly sterile all these bluescreen backdrops are. You could put literally anything you can imagine in there, and you've got a yoga mat and some 15lb weights? What a waste.

All that blather about the future. Promises about how much better the future will be. But y'know what? FUCK the future, how about we make the PRESENT better RIGHT NOW?

(Oh wait that wouldn't increase shareholder profits now would it)

In Zuck's defense, the cyborg eyes he received after the Incident have dark irises on black sclera, like a chimpanzee, and also don't require him to blink.

Well, at least it only lasts two minutes. To me, it was like watching a very short horror movie.

The video is funny, but the videogrep tool is amazing.

Also, his tutorial stuff like Intro to the Command Line is a master class in how to present instructional material - you can watch a video of how it's done, but it's also accompanied by a detailed step-by-step text version if that's how you roll.

If anyone's going to be shot into the sun, I can think of a better candidate than Zuckerberg's marketing person.

Hah! I used Vosk to generate an automated transcript for the latest Mefi Podcast because of the recommendation from videogrep.

Damnit. I was going to post about a 3 hour sonicGrep tutorial and practicum happening tonight, hosted by SonicActs. But, it was evening CET time, so it's already over. Time zones are hard. (I note that VideoGrep 2.0 was released, maybe just before this post, and is very well documented.)
