From The Daily Show Youtube channel, Alex Wagner Interviews Trevor [42m]. Real introspective conversation about the things you want to hear that kind of conversation about. I truly enjoyed this The first 4m37s are an entertaining but not necessary montage from TDS.

For someone unfamiliar with everybody involved, what's "the things you want to hear that kind of conversation about" ?

I haven't watched the whole thing, but I grabbed the auto-generated transcript from YouTube and posted it to my blog to help provide some context and answers for people who can't view the video or don't have the whole 42 minutes free to watch it - there's a link to the (VERY ROUGH) transcript in my profile:

Alex Wagner is a journalist and author who's done a LOT of interview TV (daytime TV shows and such). (I hadn't heard of her before this post, so you're not alone.) Trevor Noah is a South African comedian, television host, actor, and political commentator; he's the current host of The Daily Show.
Among the things they talk about are doing a show like The Daily Show during a global pandemic; what Noah's purpose is in doing The Daily Show; the uses of comedy; the value of conversation and engaging with ideas; the value of diversity:

I mean it's hard to imagine the downside of having a staff that is better reflective of the country but also knows more collectively, right? Like your blind spots are less. There are fewer of them, right? If you have more eyeballs.hippybear, I am really looking forward to watching all of this. My introduction to Trevor Noah was when your Trevor riffs with the audience post hit MetaFilter right at the same time as my AskMe about smart, gentle, non-edgy comedy. Noah is great - thoughtful, kind, and very funny - and I'm so glad he's doing what he does - and I am grateful to you, hippybear, for sharing this stuff with us. Thank you!
The downside is that it's harder.

I adore both Alex Wagner (who's also fantastic on the Axios news series on HBO) and Trevor Noah. So this is a slam dunk for me.. thanks!
