I'm really thankful and in awe of someone who has the level of fame she does, and uses it to ensure civil liberties.
It should not take Fiona Apple and a Rolling Stone article to shed light on egregious rights abuse, but I'm thankful too that Rolling Stone was willing to cover it.

Apple seems like very decent person and I love that the related tweets basically sound like person at a Food not Bombs table. It's very difficult to remain approachable about these issues.

My brother went to high school with her! (Maybe! I think she was only enrolled there for some sort home school/on set kind of school bc no one remembers her, but, still...) Cool!
To be clear, my brother and her officially attended the same school location at the same time.

Fiona Apple is rad. Court watchers are rad. Thank you for surfacing this, Etrigan.
I'm inspired by her championing such a fundamental and unglamorous issue of justice. When storytellers dig into and passionately share their relative expertise in real-world issues with their audience, and do so with fairness and compassion, it feels like next-level humanity. I want to be this good.
Conversely: while I appreciate the 'bolt cutter' cleverness, promoting the bypassing of paywalls seems uncool. I understand the practical benefits, and have read the recent related admin comment, but systematic circumvention seems ethically dubious at best.
