the YouTube version does not include ... the scenes featuring Scrappy-Doo.
You say that like it's a bad thing.

You can tell the scene in the first live-action movie where Scooby literally punches Scrappy in the face was written with real hatred and vitriol, because face-punching normally doesn't happen in animation. Not because it's violent, but because it's fucking hard. And it's hard because, ironically, faces are soft. And squishy. And complicated. And there are parts of our brains that work really hard on recognizing faces, which makes those parts hard to fool.

I loved this when it came out. Shaggy howls out a line like "Every notice how once the music starts up, they start chasing us?"

(I added a "Halloween2022" tag since people might still be looking at those — hey, call it Halloween week — or might next year, etc.)

Watched this one last year as one of the extra-credit suggestions for the #Hooptober challenge on Letterboxd last year, and thought it held up marvelously. I feel like it, and the general retro-friendly vibe of late '90s/early '00s Cartoon Network, helped build a bridge between generations when it comes to appreciating Scooby-Doo.

Or because face-punching was perfected and then run into the ground in the 1980s with GI Joe and the Transformers.
Also Scrappy Doo is a puppy, and punching a baby in the face is almost universally reviled.

The many embeds (mostly ads) in the OPP's link take a long time to load, so here's a direct link to the Youtube video from Cartoon Network.

This was the finest thing to watch and I also taped it off of Cartoon Network and then made everyone watch it repeatedly.
And we still say "Shaggy, why are you in the corner?" "I'm skeeered!"
