To Protect Wildlife from Artificial Light, Look to the Moon: A proposed design for a Danish church looks to automatically adjust the building’s exterior lighting to the abundance of moonlight.
Thanks aniola I really hope this gets installed, worth reading the pdf as it goes deeper with local peoples comments - although I'd like to know what the congregation thinks. I've designed several lighting schemes only to have the contractor go through the list and substitute my dark-sky, insect-friendly and human experience oriented design.
A few years ago I met with Travis Longcore in LA https://travislongcore.net/longcore-2/ who has written the very useful Ecological Consequences of Artificial Night Lighting. Over-lighting of outdoor space is something we all become innured to ... while nature and people sicken, all the more so with narrow spectrum LEDs.
