Renewed push to save southern cassowary

Renewed push to save southern cassowary, called "Australia's own living dinosaur." (Not an actual dinosaur, except insomuch as all birds are dinosaurs.) The endangered southern cassowary looks akin to its prehistoric ancestors and there's a national push to save this beautiful giant bird from disappearing.

I don't want to be unkind, but is pulling chariots really in the best interest of an extremely endangered species? Such an odd and amazing corner of the globe.

I had not realized how endangered cassowaries are. If I’m reading correctly, the Southern Cassowary is the least endangered species, and, from the article, not doing well.

I’m not sure they're beautiful, but they are impressive.

If I were to become a Bond villain, my minion disposal chute would terminate in a cassowary den. I hope they save these birds.

I feel like we need to be saved from these birds, generally. But, yes, they are awesome and fierce and should be preserved to terrify future generations.

No bird is more dinosaur in both looks and and behavior. Cassowaries are apparently filling the velociraptor ecological niche to this day.
