BBC' Radio 4's Today programme celebrated Halloween this morning by devoting its Tweet of the Day slot to the carrion crow. It was quite a production.

That was unexpectedly spooky! For all our modern love of crows, it's good to remember they're actually psychopomps rather than friends.

I don’t see how “friend” and “psychopomp” are mutually exclusive.

'Carrion crow'? I've heard of the British carrion doctor, which is indeed as rank as one would expect carrion to be, but carrion crow is a new one for me.
