Wow.
I've always loved that song.
I especially loved that they included so much animation of Maury Muehleisen. I didn't realize he died in that plane crash, too.
I'm quite sure I wouldn't have found this on my own. Thank you so much for posting this, 2N2222. I am grateful.

I grew up with an album of Jim Croce's greatest hits. This was real nice.

What a great song (and now video too)! I just came across Rick Beato’s in-depth look at this song; worth a watch if you are a fan. As usual the music theory stuff was way over my head, but I enjoyed it.

Such a beautiful song, thanks for the links all. The top comment for TedW's link is Maury's sister, thanking Rick and Mary for the honoring and remembering their music after 49 years. There's definitely something in my eyes.

Also- Croce has such a unique voice.
I hear his delivery and it sometimes reminds me of that particular '90's vowel accent' that Cobain, Morrisette, et al have (ie: gyeave me the number if you can find it).
I wonder, is he the progenitor of that? I'm not an expert, but I can't think of other singers of that era or before with that same delivery.

One of the best written and performed songs made better by a great video.

I have always loved this song. So open and touching.
