Another monolith appears. Previously. Previously. Previously.

Note the recent Metatalk. Previouslies are not needed. I almost never do them. This time it seemed to make more sense to add context. I highly encourage people to just post away than worry about if they are following all the right rules.

Now, go on and share your alien theories/art installations/what have you! Looking forward to reading.

(pretty genius of me to unconsciously rhyme "choice" with "choice" 🙄)

Can we bring Marjorie Taylor Green out there for a couple of days and see if it's increased her brain capacity at all?

Aw who am I kidding? She'd probably just attack her reflection in the mirror.

This seems like a delightful if inconvenient pet project that someone in the southwest had taken up!

I'm pretty sure this is the beginning of a Robert Charles Wilson novel and it isn't going to end well...

In her case, who wouldn't?

Or the beginning of a Robert Anton Wilson novel. That probably won't end well either.

A similar monolith appeared in downtown Las Vegas in December 2020, standing under the Fremont Street Experience canopy.

Wait... How did someone put one up there, in a crowded city, and also remove it later, without being seen and found out?

How big is this thig?

My rough measurements from photos indicate that we do not have a 1:4:9 ratio for the dimensions, which indicates less likely Firstborn origin and more likely DraftKings promotional stunt.

Downtown Las Vegas isn't exactly a crowded city. There are no real businesses on Fremont Street, just casinos and restaurants. There are times when it's crowded with tourists and other times (like 9:00AM on a weekday) when it's almost an empty ghost town.

If I was smuggling in a Monolith I'd bring it in a van at 10:00AM and a few people in high-vis vests and overalls would walk it in and look like we know what we're doing. Maybe wear N95s to not be caught on camera. I doubt anyone would bat an eyelid.
