I submitted my favorite Hungarian swear: "az isten bassza meg" which means "God should fuck it."

I don't get the rankings.

"Cunt" is the most unspeakably crude word? I've heard that many Australians would disagree. "Pussy" is worse than "snatch"? IME, the former is a common body-part name, perhaps one small step more vulgar than standard terminology, while the latter I've only ever heard in context as objectifying and demeaning.

Still, my vocabulary has been enriched. That's always a good start to the day.

If you're going have Battlestar Galactica's Frak ("the show's equivalent of fuck"), then surely Father Ted's Feck should be in there too?

I disagree about the compiler's comments on "motherfucker". I think any sense of the word's literal meaning has long since drained away. It's now more like an abstract insult, used mostly for the extremely satisfying string of sounds it makes when you say it. Like cunt (at least in its British usage) it can even be quite affectionate.

Finally, I'd like to suggest adding cockwomble: a recent British coinage which is charming, inventive and fairly mild. It's the sort of thing you might call an exasperating friend when they've spilt their drink all over you. Emphasis on the first syllable.

Feck is in there, and the description mentions Father Ted.

bhenchod and madrchod are truly great hindi/urdu swears.

roughly translated as :”sister fucker” and “motherfucker” they have a great tonal register, which I have only heard variations of, but can’t parse in a cultural context - I don't know which popular figure said bhen in a particular way or whether chod said under the breath in a particular tone has an echo for some other hindustani term. i know they can be spat or whispered though!

i disagree with paul slade above! tho

I imagine that the range of things you can do with bhen and chod is similar to the ways you can say MOTHERfucker or motherFUCKER or moth-er-FUCK-ER, and speed being another factor…… the slow drawn out mo..thu…r…FUCKER or the quick under-the-breath motherfucker

SO. MANY. VARIATIONS.

truly the efflorescence of the soul, swearing unites the world
(in a big ‘ol fuck you )
