May We Haveth One’s Attention

This year's British Airways Safety Video alludes to period dramas and literature in various eras.
If you're gonna use the dang Flower Duet (clichééééééééé), at least make sure we can hear both voices, audio engineers. I couldn't hear the mezzo at all.
Two thumbs up for the heeled shoes being most likely a man's, though.

Re: the Flower Duet, it may be cliché, but it's also on-brand for BA, since the 80s, evidently.

Missed opportunity there for Colin Firth.

Was there an FPP for airline videos in general? I feel like they’ve morphed into this underrated art form. I’ve seen a few interpretive dance ones both modern and gorgeous, and one glorious air Canada tongue in cheek “store your valuables” and it’s all jugs of maple syrup, beaver toys and Montreal bagels and people acting like they’ve never been on a plane before. Chef kiss.

I feel like air safety videos have become incredibly tedious. In particular the Qantas videos. They take too long, and after initial viewing any subsequent viewing is a grind. And the airlines still have cabin attendants doing demonstrations anyway!

St Peepsburg, there's this fpp from almost ten years ago, which I found because I remembered that I linked it from this fpp about one of Eva's. There may well have been others in the intervening six years. Although I guess a lot of us weren't doing much air travel for a couple years in there.

I like this for many reasons,
including that it's actually representative of the actual current population of Britain, with Black, Indian/Pakistani, and Asian actors.

This was really sweet to watch!
The uniformed crew members in the video are real BA staffers, what the airline calls "colleagues."
It was directed by Sharon Maguire (Bridget Jones's Diary), with costumes by Oscar winner Jenny Beavan.

Ladies and Gentlemen of the Ton,
It is with great pleasure that I, your most humble and obedient servant, present to you the necessary instructions for ensuring the utmost safety and decorum whilst we are conveyed through the heavens on this fine airborne contraption.
Firstly, do take heed of the following:
Buckling of Your Belts: Pray, fasten your seat belts as though they were the stays of a finely crafted corset. They should be snug, yet comfortable, across your lap. The ends must be securely fastened and the strap pulled to ensure a fit that would make any modiste proud.
Posture of Elegance: In the unlikely event of a sudden change in altitude, you must adopt a most graceful posture. Bend forward with hands over your heart, bowing as if greeting royalty. This will protect your visage from any untoward jostling.
Exits of Urgency: The exits, much like the discreet doors of a grand ballroom, are located to the fore, aft, and amidst the cabin. In an event where an expeditious departure is necessary, a noble and orderly procession towards these exits is imperative. Kindly take note of the one nearest to you, for in times of duress, even the best of us may become disoriented.
Vestments of Flotation: Should we find ourselves required to alight upon water, a life vest is stowed beneath your seat. Place it over your head with the finesse of donning a splendid cape. Secure the straps about your waist and pull the cords to inflate. Fear not, for a valve is provided to further inflate or deflate as befits your comfort and dignity.
A Breath of Fresh Air: In the rare event that the cabin should lose pressure, oxygen masks will descend with the urgency of a debutante's first ball invitation. Secure the mask over your nose and mouth, pulling the elastic over your head. Breathe as naturally as if you were taking in the fragrance of the finest roses.
Attending to the Young and Less Fortunate: If you are traveling with those of tender years or those in need of assistance, kindly secure your own mask before attending to them, thus ensuring you are in a position to offer the most effective aid.
Finally, as we embark upon this grand journey through the skies, I implore you to remain composed and courteous, embodying the very essence of what it means to be a member of society's elite.
Your humble servant,
The Captain and Crew

"May We Haveth One’s Attention" is terrible grammar, though.
