It's very sweet, and I'm glad it all worked out OK in the end; but it feels like the piece is very carefully navigating around the iceberg of "so why did Mark not come out to his parents?" Older Mark and dad seem to have arrived at a good place, but oof, I feel for younger Mark.

I love everything about this.

I don't know if old episodes of Supermarket Sweep are still on Netflix, but wow, that's a delightfully weird world that brings me right back to being a 14-year-old staying home with the flu and watching this weird world in a half-delirious state.

(I also saw the early episodes of the second season of Twin Peaks in that state. That's either the best way or the worst way to watch them. I still don't know.)

The plot twist was great and I would totally watch that movie, made for tv or not.

I think of this show every single time I go to Costco on a Friday night.
Get your shit and get out!

Like I viscerally remember the people putting their arm on a shelf and just reaming product into their karts.

I think you could only have 5(?) of each item. So anything over that doesn't count and just took up space in the cart. Gotta be choosy.

Then we’re getting a call from my sister saying, “How well do you know this guy? Because Mom’s putting on lipstick.”

Couldn't stop laughing at that part. So real.

I started misting up when I hit the more recent picture of them. Aside from being a lovely photo (that sky!), the change in their ages really hits home the decades that they have had together - and how awesome that is.

(I have never seen the show - maybe it didn't play in Canada? I have no idea how the game was played. Was it about getting the most expensive groceries? Because I would be in the spice aisle, or maybe the fancy cheese section. You could really rack up the cost there.)

jb - here is a bit of the rebooted version from 2020. I enjoyed the original (my college roommate and I used to talk about trying to go on, not seriously) and I liked Leslie Jones' version too.
