Urban animals need darkness at night

I encountered a spider last night. To my amazement, I didn't freak out. I just let it be. It ran io safety behind my nitelite. I am not the best person, but I am willing to let my guard down for a spider.

Sadly, many people don't even realise how much they are missing because of light pollution. I think humans are also impacted by too much light at night and I wish people would tun their fucking floodlights off when they go to bed or at least use sensor lights rather than shine massive floodlights in our bedroom window!

I do feel for the animals and birds that hunt at night - all these lights, streetlights particularly, must play havoc with their abilities.

Is this where I express my oft felt desire to grab my trusty .22 and shoot out the lights of the parking lot next to my house with hellishly bright lights that are meant to make it less convenient for car dwellers to camp in their lot while flooding my yard with obnoxious 5200K white light?

It's not just urban animals of the non human varieties!
