Manitoba to offer free prescription birth control starting October 1st!
Condoms and morning-after pills are not included, but currently you do not need a prescription for the latter.

Oh yes, lol. I hope Americans didn't think we needed Rx's for condoms but you can never be sure what they know about our country...

Yeah!
I don't see this as so much a stopped clock situation (in the sense that a stopped clock is right twice a day, i.e. even a shitty system produces good results by accident sometimes) as a reflection of the new provincial government seeking to push forward some basic humane policy changes. I think all government apparatus deserves skepticism and constant scrutiny, but the NDP and Wab Kinew made some promises that they seem to be keeping.

BC did this last year as well. Now we just need to take the obvious next step and just make all drugs free.

Seriously, a bag of frozen peas would be much more useful and less messy.

They're working on that.
Given the multi-year foot-dragging on the dental program and the weak eventual result (plus of course the coming election), I'm definitely not getting my hopes up about the feds doing a real national pharmacare program any time soon. I think BC might get there first on their own.

To be fair, you do, but they're easy enough to obtain anonymously from any local death panel.
