My friend shared this with me the other day, it's incredible. Just making music with nature. I especially love the splashing part, as it really forces you to hear what they're hearing and not just a bunch of random splashing. It's part of a whole movie where at one point they bang on a bunch of stalactites in a cave to make some music.

Pascoal is one of those characters where if he were fictional you would applaud the creativity of the writer.

And he writes noodly little tunes that are complete bastards to play because they simply do not ever go where your fingers expect.

A wonderful musician.

I am so glad that I spent the last 5 minutes watching that rather than anything supposedly more urgent in the world!
A reminder that a bunch of random people messing about in a river - was not in any way equivalent to Hermeto Pascoal and friends doing so. Who else would have 1) Discovered that a flute would make that particular noise when played while submerging and 2) Performed that operation absolutely deadpan?

Oh wow, here is the complete movie with cave playing. Fantastic! Unfortunately the quality isn't great, but still totally worth viewing.

OH Content warning!!! There are dead animals between 30m50s and 31m22s in the complete movie!

And one other thing, I found this article which talks about the making of the movie and it is outstanding.
