Back from the brink, hairy-nosed wombats settle into ready-made new home. The success of conserving and breeding one of the world's most endangered animals, the northern hairy-nosed wombat, has seen the species move to a third location for the first time in decades.

Everything about this is great, except… “Hairy-Nosed Wombat?” …it’s a name designed to make a burrower self-conscious. I propose “Magnificent Wombat,” “Hard-Working Wombat,” or “Enduring Wombat.” There’s more to a wombat than a pretty nose!

Today I learned that wombats glow in the dark, as do many marsupials.
Not kangaroos sadly
