Matt Bernstein has a podcast. This one is good. Yes, I just linked to an entire youtube channel, but a bit fruity is also available on spotify and anywhere you like to get your podcasts.

Some episodes I've liked:

JK Rowling's Spiral Into Madness, with guest ContraPoints
Amber Heard & The Myth of the Perfect Victim, with Kat Tenbarge (NBC)
The Mom Who Invented Gender Reveals Regrets It, with Jenna Karvunidis
Libs of TikTok the Anti-LGBTQ Terror Machine, with Taylor Lorenz (WaPo)
The Celebrity Ozempidemic, with guest Aubrey Gordon (Maintenance Phase)
The Detransitioner Panic, with guest Lucy Kartikasari

Matt is fantastic and I'm happy every time YouTube tells me he's got a new episode up.

Is there some sort of default assumption that podcasts are bad? I have more podcasts I love than I have time to listen to--and I listen to a lot of podcasts.

Inkslinger, rather than good/bad, maybe there's some kind of connection to time & auditory processing? as the sense podcasts interact with is sound, a way to describe them on McLuhan's spectrum of media is they might tend towards 'cool'
"cool" to the extent that it requires extra effort or attention on the part of the audience [depaul]
phunniemee, thank you for this! when i heard about things like the El Dorado Fire (& the Sawmill Fire, etc.) [wiki], i had no idea why such things were happening. so, i appreciated what i had time to listen to from the podcast on gender reveal parties [rva]

I had been assuming that Matt Bernstein had a bunch of other bad podcasts, and this was the exception.

There is a meme of "people need to stop giving men microphones," it's not that deep.

Transvestigating (with Contrapoints) is a ripper of an episode, going deep on this issue.

I do love Matt and I like his podcast! I guess for me I was surprised that the podcast content was a little less “I could send this to someone to explain things at a base level” than his Instagram page is. I think the podcast seems more (to me) like an “in-crowd”-level approach to modern issues, which is fine — but I wanted a little more “and this is why we’re laughing at how ridiculous some of this seems.”

I’m right there with him (and his guests when he has one); I do just love his Instagram content that spells things out for people for whom lots of this information is new or competing with other mainstream “news” sources.
