This is the first exhibition in the world based on Frida Kahlo's diaries combining the physical and digital world [fridakahlo.it, also see g arts&culture (previously)]

Midnight at Pera Palace, mosque, homes are being constructed in unusually close collaboration with their future residents [bloomberg], little birdhouses, Kedi's catstantinople w/ladders, glitter. sure :)

i posted about New York recently (the first link below the fold) & the history went far back enough to mention New Amsterdam. there's a song that riffs on this novelty (European colonization of the Americas under the banner of 'new' names, New Sweden was a thing for a bit, etc.) [wiki2]. the song references the name change of Istanbul, so Abehammerb Lincoln requested a post on this city.

i found there's a Frida Kahlo exhibit opening there soon, that's the FPP. many other people have posted about Istanbul previously, so i wove together those threads, below the fold, in the same way i did with the Kahlo threads above, previously
