The Power of Positive Drinking

It's October, so it's time for Matthew Meyer to share and illustrate A Yokai A Day.

He’s picking up where he left off last year with the Edo period collection Shokoku hyakumonogatari (“100 Tales from Various Provinces”) starting with How the Power of Sake Overcame a Bakemono.

Forgot to add (because it was originally the title) that you can follow on social media with the tag #AYokaiADay.

I learned something about Yokai last year playing Ghostwire: Tokyo, a good-but-not great PS5 game. The Yokai were definitely the best part, lots of spooky and poignant stories of ghosts needing help.

Oh nice, I’ve met him a couple times when he’s come to Kyoto for the Mononoke-ichi art markets, and apparently Mrs. Fedora knew him before he started this project. He’s a pretty cool guy with a pretty cool hobby.

I enjoyed the Oct 1 entry, even though I figured out the twist immediately. Shared with artist friends. Thanks.
