Thanks clav! Wow does bring back wonderful graybeards (and mustaches) who influenced my training.

Nick Spitzer’s talking mustache “I’ll tell you it’s not the falling that kills you, but the stopping” and “well… it’s either too much coffee,.. or not enough gin.” Terry Sejsnowskis “what if…”s accompanied by a ridiculously boyish laugh. Babu’s existential crisis inducing gedanken experiments in GR. And the supreme robot wizard Haustein. There were stories of eating sandwiches to the Cherenkov glow of a reactor tank and radioactive doorstops for nuclear-blast office doors. I’m certain Bulur was sustained solely on coffee and chocolate living out of the office. There was excitement and sheer terror watching the slow crushing brilliance of Sharpees questions from take form. Oh and Harvey Karten’s salty brilliance “Fuck you!”

There’s a nostalgia for the iconic quirky brilliance of being able to pontificate without your shirt on. It’s followed by the realization women were permitted in fewer supply, and permitted to be less quirky, iconic. They’re there, but they had to be more brilliant to have the same permissions.

I could go on… but thank you 🙏

Warren McCulloch is a supporting player in Evgeny Morozov's recent A Sense of Rebellion (which might have come up here before?); McCulloch comes up in episode 6, and there are a bunch of supporting documents and videos if you poke around there.
