Wooden buoys developed to aid research while reducing marine waste. Thousands of buoys used for science end up as marine waste — one Tasmanian group is helping to change this. They've created a wooden prototype that can survive the ocean's harshest conditions.

Well this is going to be on the agenda at my research group's next meeting.

oooo, looking forw to finding one of these on a beach in the Northern Hemisphere. It's five years since one of "my" buoys was the subject of a filler piece on the back page of the Machias [Maine] Valley News Observer. From the info scrawled on this flotsam I was able to google-up an entry in the Vessel & Permit Listing - Greater Atlantic Regional Fisheries Office which recorded the fishing boat and her Cap'n. The newspaper effectively acted as Lost&Found. BobTheBeach
