... is Tom Gauld's upcoming collection of his New Scientist cartoons. You can see ten pages from it on the Drawn & Quarterly site I've linked.
Tom Gauld is a treasure. (Also, I will take Mister Wiggles for the holidays. I'll figure out where to put his tank.)

This FPP is a blatant advertisement for his book.
And I am outraged because they are out of stock.

Just for the record, I have no links with Tom Gauld or his publisher beyond happening to enjoy the work they both put out. I made this FPP just to give Metafites a chance to see the free preview cartoons linked. Far from being out of stock, the book's not even on sale yet.

Those are great! I recognized the style but had never had a name to attach to them; now that I know who Mr. Gould is, I can spend some time poking around his website.

I love his stuff. Speaking of what's available in print, check out Revenge of the Librarians (bonus points if you request it through interlibrary loan).

Gauld's library-related cartoons routinely make me laugh -- and speaking as a librarian, frankly most portrayals of librarians in media make me want to spit nails.
I've almost gone in on an original three or four times. One of these days I'll pull the lever.

If you do a search for Tom Gauld on the Drawn and Quarterly website, many of his books have PDF previews if you'd like to check out more of his work. He also posts new work regularly on this Bluesky account, along with rough draft sketches showing how he sometimes works out ideas: @tomgauld.bsky.social

I love Tom Gauld's stuff. In addition to his comic strips, he's done a couple of graphic novels that are wonderful. Goliath is the story of David and Goliath from, well, Goliath's point of view, which in Gauld's hands is as sadly funny as you might imagine. Mooncop is also a quietly sad/funny story about the last cop on the moon, after the lunar colony has failed and everyone else is going back to Earth. Mooncop spends his days driving around, eating Lunar Donuts and ...not much else. It's great. He's got a few different social media accounts where you can also get his most recent cartoons if that floats your boat.

That one's awesome, yeah. The Masked Librarian one is also great (and currently for sale as an original).
I remember another one about librarian skill contests that included toddler-herding and speed-shelving. The guy legit gets library activities and processes. Like, I believe he actually goes to libraries!
