Akiyoshi's illusion pages.
This japanese psychology professor has been collecting and developing geometric optical illusions, some of which are found on the streets [inc. Brighton, UK!], notably he is inspired by traditional japanese design and architecture. NB: Though not exactly Friday Flash, the emphasis on clour & motion illusion prompts Akiyoshi to warn: "Caution: This page contains some works of "anomalous motion illusion", which might make sensitive observers dizzy or sick. Should you feel dizzy, you had better leave this page immediately." How polite!

I'm freaking oouuuuut! If I see him on the street, I'll punch him in the mouth for you. Can you imagine sitting in front of the computer constructing these things? I'd go mad.

The "Wedding in Japan" on the second page is a good one: my eyes are convinced those squares are wavy.
On a somewhat related note try Edward H. Adelson's checker-shadow illusion (which I just couldn't believe until I checked it in Photoshop) and the Flash based Lightness perception illusions.

Here's an interesting one that I saw on Matt's personal blog or Kottke, I can't remember which.

Yay! Brighton, UK in the MetaFilt'rin house!
For anyone who cares, the shop is 'Click Click Whirly Beep Beep' [I'm not kidding] on the corner of Trafalger St & Pelham St just 'round the corner from where I'm sitting now.
BTW, scrolling up & down past 'Primrose's field' & 'The autumn color swamp' is pretty trippy...
