Wow! Very cool, patricking. I wonder if it is better than this. In either case, you can't beat the price!

i kinda dig ray dream studio over the rest...the ray tracer can't be beat for the mac platform, and themodelers are both flexible and easy to use. unfortunately, it seems that metacreations is going under. all their products are being sold off. might wanna get a copy now if you want it...

And the best part is, the *tell you* they want to install some silly download manager that you don't really need, and let you *not* do it!

Rockin! ;-)

I wonder why so many people want to make free/cheap 3D modelers, but a really good 2D image editor is still expensive. Of course, there's the Gimp, but that's only a Linux tool. I wish I had the talent to create an open source free Photoshop-like program for Windows. (Yes, I know there's a version of the Gimp for Windows, but it's not ready for prime time yet.)

It may not be free, but Jasc's Paint Shop Pro has more than enough 2D editing features for a hobbyist like myself, at a fraction of Photoshop's price. I think it retails somewhere in the $60-80 range, but you can download a 30-day free trial from their site. In addition, I'm pretty sure the Gimp has been ported to WIN32.

Hell. Two double-posts in two days. My net connection from work seems to send much better than it receives, or I'm not quick enough on the "stop" button.

The hook is this: Most of the cool features are in plugins, and those are not free.

That's OK; when something's offered for free, I always look to see where the hook is. Once I know, I cease to be worried. (If I can't find it, I'm always worried that I'm actually downloading "adware", which is something I really want to avoid.)
