Fido, Spot or Rover are mere nicknames for show dogs. This site explains the long show dog names, most popular names, and CNN's Jeanne Moos reports.
I guess you'll be slapping Bill Clinton then, he named both his dogs Chelsea and Buddy.

Present family members: Khyber and Oliver "Ollie" Twist the golden retrievers, Cleopatra the boxer, and PK (Pissy Kitty) the black cat. Oh, and I sometimes dog-sit Seiji, another retriever, and Tobi, an adorable pit bull. And my friend owns a dignified, graying black hound named Barnabus.
Dearly departed: Sputnik the muttnik, Mickey the english setter, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart the malamute, and Boomerang "Boola Boola Hey" the golden retriever.
On preview: yep, time to rent "Best in Show" again!

I caught some of the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show on TV last night, mostly to see my puppy's breed - Chow. Damned if the Chow didn't F@#* it up and not walk around right. That explains why we stink so bad in dog school. If a professional and a dog with six names can't do it, how are we supposed to learn in eight weeks? I feel better about me, and my great pup, Masha (name not on list). Best In Show rocks. IMHO, Waiting For Guffman rocks harder.

Rainbaby: You forget to get the kennel name in there. Ideally it would be "Ch. Rainbaby's Goo-Goo Marmoset Gimme-A-Prize."
Me, I'm gonna open Oswald Cobblepot Kennels and then name dogs after body parts or ailments, so soon you'll turn on the tv to see a dog with the caption reading "Oswald Cobblepot's Hairy Ass" or "Oswald Cobblepot's Pendulous Wang" or maybe "Oswald Cobblepot's Phlegm-filled Sinuses."
