Kim Jong Il (the illmatic)'s LiveJournal
3:39 am Dear diary. Bush still doesn’t ‘get it.’ I tried making my feelings clear but he’s too busy ignoring me, he is such a jerk. Everything in his life is just Saddam, Saddam, Saddam and I am sick of it.

On the plus side, I think my hair looked pretty good today. Also I went frolicking at Paektu Mountain and the rainbow came out again. After dinner some of my subjects sang me a song because I invented Outer Space.

I was very amused by that, probably much more than I should have been. ROR indeed. "Make Me Make You!!"

Not precisely on topic, but does anyone know where there's .jpg, .bmp or .gif of the infamous Economist cover with the portrait of Kim Jong Il and the words "Greetings Earthlings"?

"After dinner some of my subjects sang me a song because I invented Outer Space."

Pricless. I'm still laughing.

That was a lot funnier than I thought it was going to be.

At first I couldn't decide if I thought this was funny enough to post, but the "Mount Paektu rainbow" theme cinched it for me...

Bush43: WHAT, YOU MEAN JUST THE TWO OF US?

Bush43: ONE ON ONE?

License2KimJongill: yeah! over here in pyongyang. we could watch the
mass games and go frolicking on Mount Paektu. there's this rainbow

Looks very similar in theme to John Howard's blog...Quote from August last year:
The US is gonna attack Iraq and I really, really, really hope George invites us to join! I left a few messages at the White House saying that he could have as many Australian troops as he wanted but he hasn't called back yet....George still hasn't called. I left a message saying I was willing to bring back conscription if he needed more troops. Sometimes I think he looks down on me. Mainly cause I'm so short. He says he's only joking when he calls me 'Short-ass', though.
Actually, Kim's blog is probably funnier.

Is there some truth at the heart of the humor? That is, are Kim Jong Il's international actions motivated by the same kind of mass-delusional solipsism that leads him to have subjects sing him a song about how he invented Outer Space?

And where can I get half a peninsula to start the republic of namespan (heck, I don't even have a blog yet, better get crackin')...

namespan, you raise an interesting point.

I ask myself "What would it be like to be part of that government? To be one of his close advisors?" and my feeling is that it would be akin to constantly trying to talk your friend down from a bad acid trip - "Yeah man, just go with it...just go with it...".

Maybe the guy truly is nuttier than a shithouse rat. Maybe he is a new breed of despot-as-performance-artist. Perhaps he is a cunning strategist that knows exactly how ridiculous he makes himself look. Maybe he is all these things and more.

Well, here I am, frolicking in Las Vegas, and I decide to take a peek at metafilter for a moment. Glad I did. What a crack up. GREAT POST!

Man, every time I see "Kim Jong" I read "King Kong." It makes for some interesting images.

Didn't Private Eye do this in the 70's with Idi Amin?
