British Television Advertising Awards [Flash, QuickTime]
Yes...the Craft Award winner is just that: powerful.
Well done.

The site is full of fantastic adverts. Advertising as artform is something we do best in the world in Britain - whether the adverts actually get the products sold is another matter entirely.

Saying that, my favorite ever advert is the French one for Honda (it was released after the awards).

Amberglow: the NSPCC ad? Yh, first time I saw that it hit me like a ton of bricks. Really brings home the reality of family violence. Ironic how something so deadly was source material for something so creative.
Last year, another childrens charity - Barnardos - won a top award for it's equally disturbing campaign about childhood neglect and abuse. Members can download the ads here.
Interesting sidelight to the references here yesterday about how the UK Independent Television Commission works, and its powers and attitudes - the ads provoked a major set of complaints, which played straight into the agency's hands, and brought more attention to the product/client. What worries me is that the principle "What you pay attention to, you get more of" is what we don't want to occur here.
Two British specialities: child neglect and superb advertising?
And the bottom line: award-winning advertising for a UK bank increased profit per customer by 43%.
Hope that the ads for charities have an equivalent effect, until there's no more need for charity fundraising. [/dreaming]

Budgen is indeed brilliant! The Stella Artois advert manages to be funny even though we already know the punchline. Thanks, PG! A bottle of vintage Port has been added to your credit account.
As for that pretentious git waffling on about the BTAA awards, it was almost as good as a parody.
