Though I dislike Drudge forposting in caps often anything thatsmacks of being too Left for his, nonetheless I note that he often comesoutfirst with news items that are truly news...after all, mainstream media is hardly in a positiin to sound so high and might. They are all coprorate tools and/or syncophants (or liars).

I love Drudge, best news website out there if you ask me.
Personally I really don't see him as some sort of conservative flack, Republican rubber-stamper, or a Bush-licker. He definitely hated Clinton, but that's not the same thing.

Buzzflash is better.
But still, why get so excited about Drudge? He might have been the first big one, and is still a popular fave, and still gets breaking stories out quickly, and annoys the hell out of the "old media" anti-Internet types, and publishes stuff that others censor, and generally posts news stories, with only links to editorialists, and...
...Oh, I get it. Now I know why they hate him so. Nevermind.

Well, the Fudge Report hates Bush, that's for sure.
Speaking of which, Oxblog finds Clinton-Hate-O-Holics tiresome, too.
Conservatives are at their absolute worst when the name "Clinton" comes up. There's a visceral hatred there, every bit as deep as the far left's hatred for President Bush, but the conservative hatred for the Clintons seems broader. I've even read hit pieces on Chelsea (disclosure: I know Chelsea and consider her a friend) in conservative publications, motivated by nothing other than seething resentment at her family. This is absurd, and it is a major turn-off to centrists.
Ain't that the truth....
It creeps me out to see it being to Bush's kids, too.

The DrudgeRetortistas haven't done much lately with the site (and its solid gold URL) except for a message board that makes MeFi threads look good. Would somebody help rcade finish his WinerLand book so he can free up some time to make Drudge.Com a little less portal-ly and a little more current? (Maybe some RSS feeds in a Drudge format? Let's think outside the blog!)
And Postroad, six words: valid point, spell check, less coffee.

I'd love to find a new direction for the beautiful URL that fell into my lap back in 1997 (aside from the message board I started as a fly trap for kooks). It was a lot more fun to make fun of Matt Drudge and current politics when the Clintons were in charge and the news involved dress stains, soiled cigars, and Greta Van Sustern's wild sex parties. Bush is many things, but comical isn't one of them unless he starts riding the Segway to work each morning.

Don't despair, there's a bright future for comical news on the web, I promise...
I am SO tempted to throw in a link for a site that doesn't exist yet, but Matt would give me a MetaTimeOut until 2023... I have a feeling it's time for ME to reprioritize some projects...

That's awesome. I just redirected my boss's home page to smudge. Takin' bets on how long it takes him to notice.

Steve, two things--
One: my comment was about people bashing Bush's kids, which I think is beyond the pale.
Two: A couple of days ago via Drezner, I came across that Oxblog post on Clinton bashing, which I thought was a breath of fresh air. I was curious to see if you still had that Chelsea page up and checked to see--and to my astonishment, you do. It provided an example of what he meant and I must admit I linked to it with schadenfreude, given your expressed admiration of Oxblog.
My advice is get rid of that page--it only makes you look bad. It is so creepy--don't ever tell anyone to grow up when you post crap like that. Oxblog and Drezner are conservative blogs I can respect. They're smart and funny. Yours is stupid and lame. Get a clue.
