Crap... I didn't even think about the affects of the inevitable onslaught of traffic. I apologize (damn that happened fast).

Ah!!!! por un momento pensé... que mis deseos se habían hecho realidad. Metafilter en Español!!!!
BTW, here in Spain, we used to watch all the classic cartoons (Popeye, Bugs Bunny, Tom & Jerry, etc) directly from the latin american version (in "neutral Spanish" as it is known here). Just as my generation went from teenagers to adults, newer episodes were aired, with proper Spanish (ie: from Spain), and you know, it wasn't the same, it lost all the appeal...
(returning to the thread)
You'll have to hear the voice of the proper Spanish' Darth Vader, Constantino Romero (link goes to a interview with Constantino about his role as dubber of Vader, interview is in Spanish). He was also the speaker during the inaugural ceremony of the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona (both in Spanish and English), and people thought it was Vader himself that was speaking!

:) saludos. I remember seen a Spanish translation of starwars where the name of Luke Skywalker was also translated literally, as "Lucas Trotacielos".

The scary part is, I can identify the film, scene and line word for word, and I don't know a word of spanish.
Yay!

A few years back I visited Bolivia (my homeland, as it were. It's a long story). I recorded several dubbed shows for a friend who I knew would deem them hilarious. The most surreal had to be "Fantasma del Espacio", aka Space Ghost.
I've seen "La Guerra de las Galaxias", or at least part, but it was years ago. I do remember "artoo-detoo" being turned into "Arturito", though.
Also amusing, for slightly different reasons: Estar Guars.
