If any of this crap is still super-cool with the inner city blacks, something's wrong. By the time golf-playing whitefoo has heard of it, it's supposed to be O-VER.
It's kinda sad how whitefolks think there's a meta-layer of irony protecting them when they co-opt black culture. They're not just stealing authentic inner city culture because they're soulless suburbanites. Oh no. They know you know they know. That makes it a joke. Or something.
But it isn't anymore. Be white. Get your own thing.

I whole heartedly second scarabic's comment. Posts like this are not ironic or funny, or anything, just really irritating and insulting. White ironic internet types (including me): How about we start connecting to some real culture of our own, or at least stop mocking other people's from afar.

Scarabic: I'm interested in your comments 'Be White'; as a British white male it appears to me that significant elements of Black British/Urban culture derive from African American culture. To what extent would you regard this adoption as valid on the basis of colour alone (if at all?). Does this adoption differ from the adoption of cultural elements by white America?
