So now that we're outside the constraints of having to help someone answer a question, can I be the first to say that Hicks quite often sucked?

Heh. No. But you can be the second!

When he was good, he was pretty damn good, though.

FAVORITE HICKS QUOTE:

"George Bush says 'we are losing the war on drugs'. Well you know what that implies? There's a war going on, and people on drugs are winning it! Well what does that tell you about drugs? Some smart, creative motherf*ckers on that side."

I cannot thank you enough, O mighty wonderchicken!

My fav Rev. Bill quote in a philosophical vein, to follow up on RavinDave:

"I laid in a field of green grass for four hours going 'my God, I love everything.'"

I can't seem to download anything. The server keeps "terminating my connection". Anyone having the same problem?

I wonder what comedians the pro-Bush crowd likes.

"terminating my connection"

Probably too many concurrent downloads.

Thanks for the link Stavros, shame the FTP site is slow as fuck. Can anyone mirror?

I think you've made up for your recent semi-dissing :)

One of a couple things may be happening:

1) The times that he "often sucked" were not recorded very often
2) I don't know what funny is
3) You don't know what funny is

I'm open to any combination of these possibilities.

I've been listening to lots of Hicks in the last year and I remember his routines when he was alive. It all works for me. To my ears there is some world-class comedy there -- genius even.

...and you can draw a direct line of influence between a lot of what passes for 'edgy' comics and Hicks.

"we're christians and we don't like what you said"

"well, forgive me."

Perfect.

I'm not buying his stuff anymore.

Every time I do, I get drunk and give it away to people.
