I think you must already live in a cave, to not have heard of this yet.

So if the new governor halts the programme, will this be a case of a Utahn making a u-turn?

When I grow up, I want to be the legislative staffer who, when asked if he wants this, says, "Not only no, but hell no." We need more legislative staffers willing to take such a tepidly-profane stand.

If you've ever been the subject of a security clearance investigation, all of this information is already available to the federal government in a searchable database. If you've ever filed taxes, most of this information is available to the federal government. If you hold a valid driver's license, slightly less of this information is available to the state government.
Discuss.

Oh, well Jenna says it's ok, so I guess I won't panic.
Paaaaaaaannnnniiiiiiiiccccc!
Ok, I feel better now. Actually Jenna, since no one knows what information Utah is adding to the database on behalf of its sheep, er, I mean citizens, you have no basis for your statement. In fact, you don't know what information they have, or who they have it on. Also, just filing taxes does not make all that information available to the people this does, nor does having a driver's license. Why are you covering for the evil overlords, we need you on our side.

Ad a sprinkle of these, (R&D coming along nicely these days) and you (the gov't) get to keep everything under control rather efficiently.
I've lost track of how many sci fi stories from the 20th century have already come true.

Where did I say any of that was okay? I said here's some information (based on fact) that is related to the topic at hand, discuss it.
In the prior thread, though.
